Ruby's a hottie, thanks to Carrie by Cindy Pearlman Thanks to a popular HBO show, diamonds and rubies are a girl's best friends. In last week's season finale, "Sex and the City's" Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) got her piece of the rock in the form of a big diamond engagement ring from boyfriend Aidan (John Corbett). To celebrate, she went to a bar with her friend Samantha (Kim Cattrall) who ordered up two Rubies instead of their trademark Cosmopolitans to celebrate. During previous seasons, the show made the latter into the single girl's drink of choice. Can the Ruby be far behind? For those wondering what goes into the drink, try this: a premium vodka, ruby red grapefruit juice, grenadine and a twist of fresh lime. Of course, since the drink is new, the recipe is open to interpretation, according to one barkeep. On "Sex and the City," it was served in a traditional martini glass. In Los Angeles, the drink is becoming a hot one. One bar reported that "the demand has been amazing." Not so in Chicago. A spokesperson for Excalibur says, "Everybody has been talking about the show, but they haven't ordered any Rubies." "No one has ordered one yet. The bartender hasn't even heard of it," says a spokesman for the Four Seasons. Then again, it depends on where you go. "I know all about that one since last Sunday," says Ricky Cisero at Cubby Bear. "You could come test one before you write this story," he offered. Uh, GLARE doesn't drink during working hours, but we'll take a raincheck. HOME
